“Headquartered in the US, Jaykal LED Solutions set up its own factory on the Chinese mainland three years ago to manufacture high-quality LED products including industrial lighting, office lighting, residential lighting and hospital lighting. All of our products comply with UL and DLC certifications. Our major customers include wholesalers and project contractors from North America, which is our biggest market, representing 90 per cent of our exports. We take part in both the Spring Edition and Autumn Edition of the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair to introduce our new products and to promote our Jaykal brand because our existing customers visit the two shows regularly to see our new products. The fair also provides a good opportunity for us to look for new customers. ” Albert Huang, Operation Manager, Jaykal LED Solutions, Inc, USA
“Founded in 1997, MLS specialises in the production of LED packaging and LED lighting products. Our LED products include bulbs, tubes, candle lights, filament bulbs, downlights, ceiling lights and street lights. This is our first-time participation in the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition). We are keen to develop overseas markets for our LED lighting products, with supermarkets and OEM customers being our target customers. The Hong Kong fair is important to the lighting industry because many overseas buyers visit the fair and famous lighting brands are exhibited here. It provides an excellent platform for us to look for new customers while meeting with existing customers. We expect that many buyers will visit our booth in the next few days.” Laura Guo, Admin Manager, OEM Business Dept., MLS Co.,Ltd., the Chinese mainland

“Headquartered in Singapore, Asia Incentives provides promotion and event consultancy services. Currently, I am preparing an exhibition stand for an international airline which will take part in a travel show in Singapore in July. That’s why I have come here to look for custom-made LED display materials for my client. I am happy that I have found 10 potential vendors at the fair. It’s not my first time attending the Hong Kong fair. I came here few years ago to look for LED strips for event decoration. I like visiting this fair because I can have face-to-face meetings with new suppliers, know more about their product quality and background and collect information about new products.” Bob Adamberry, Director, Asia Incentives, Singapore
“In business for 15 years, we specialise in the production of cables and sockets. Four years ago, we started to import LED lighting products and sell them to distributors in Russia. Since then, I visit the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair once or twice a year because it’s easier for me to make new contacts and find new models. At this year’s fair, I am looking for LED bulbs, floodlights and panel lights. So far, I have made 30 new contacts mainly from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. At the end of the fair, the number of new contacts I made here will exceed 100. Customers in Russia are more price sensitive now. If the prices offered by new suppliers have met our requirements and the quality of their products is reasonable, we’ll confirm our orders. Usually, our first order with each new supplier will amount to US$100,000.” Andrey Egoshin, Product Manager, UNIV®ERSAL, Russia

Hear What the Judge Says
“The Open Group contestants of this year have presented some sophisticated lighting designs and the standards are even better than the previous year. Some of the designs are really well-thought-out pieces, having taken different aspects such as energy saving and colour temperature into consideration. The works of the Student Group are mixed in quality. While a couple of designs are rather creative, the participating students have to work harder in research and study on lighting applications to enrich their design concepts. We need more new ideas to produce a good and outstanding design. Lighting is closely tied to our everyday life but it’s more than aesthetics and decoration. Designers are required to think innovatively to enhance the functionality and enable us to live happily in a more comfortable environment with better lighting. In addition to this design competition, we need to invest more efforts to nurture new talents and drive creativity in the industry.” Tino Kwan, Founder, TinoKwan Lighting Consultants Ltd
